Moments and Musings /003
The fascinating psychology behind messy versus clean workspaces; why the real world is making a comeback; a beautiful décor trend that I can't wait to try, and more
This week marks the third edition of the series, Moments and Musing. When
teasingly questioned the difference between this series and the Round-Ups, I realised the distinctions are subtle. While our Round-Ups typically feature brief snapshots of inspiring discoveries, Moments and Musings aims to offer a more nuanced, in-depth exploration of each topic. In this edition, we look at the ongoing struggle with social media and the return of the real world; the age-old debate of clean versus messy workspaces and the fascinating psychology behind each. We'll also highlight a chic new décor trend that's caught our eye, and more.PS This email may be truncated in your inbox. If so, simply click on "View entire message" to see everything. RANDOM THINGS
My good friend Mark once called me a "maven" during the time he was VP of Marketing at the office where we briefly worked together before I dedicated myself full-time to TIG. I only recently looked up the term, discovering it means an expert or connoisseur, someone who is very knowledgeable in a particular field. A passionate early supporter of TIG (and me), his observation was flattering and, I think, accurate. One of my many other talents is that I seem to have an intuitive sense of emerging trends. I've held reservations about social media long before publishing this post in 2021, so it's intriguing that this sentiment has taken this long to finally catch on. Between Grid Zero1 and digital detoxes (removing social media apps from your phone without deleting your accounts), there's a shift towards more mindful and selective usage—for many reasons, including taking back control of one’s online presence, rejecting the need for public validation, reacting to the over-saturation of social media, and a longing for a little mystery in the age of oversharing.
