Sunday Letter /005
On gatekeeping; the 80s Hong Kong pre-wedding trend; shopping for homeware; the chicest foreign exchange in London; the return of Le Smoking, and more
This fifth edition of Sunday Letter finds me nestled in the corner of the sofa, feet tucked beneath me, leaning against a soft cushion on the left armrest. Beside me sits a glass of riesling, sparkling in P.'s grandmother's cut crystal, lending elegance to an unhurried evening. Our conversation meanders between the weightiest matters of the world and tomorrow's dinner plans, while my attention drifts between these words, passing thoughts, and the pages of the book I'm currently reading. It's the kind of Sunday that unfolds slowly, refusing to be rushed. So, here it is at last, the latest instalment—featuring a glimpse into Karl Lagerfeld's Roman bathroom, holiday beauty notes on white eyeliner, the dramatic return of YSL's Le Smoking, and London's chicest foreign exchange (that will also serve you a latte), among other discoveries.

FOREIGN EXCHANGE NEWS
Having spent a month in Paddington in September, was surprised to come across a place we hadn’t discovered. Foreign Exchange News in Paddington is a coffee shop, bureau de change, and newsagents located on a quiet road near Paddington station, where, incidentally, we also spent a lot of time. The next time we’re in the area, we’ll definitely stop in for a coffee and perhaps pick up a pain au chocolat and a vintage book.
