Sunday Letter /002
a short update on what's been happening lately, and things you may have missed
WE TRULY discover our mettle when we're in a state of flux ⎼ a predicament we find ourselves in right now. It's an uneasy time as familiar things shift, but our togetherness remains constant, making change a little more bearable.
I write this letter from a hotel bed, the window thrown open to a balcony where, moments ago, we shared a glass of red wine at its charming table for two. I've been away from work for just over two weeks now, and in an effort to reconnect and make up for lost time, this marks my third Substack post since last Sunday.
This flurry of writing isn't just about catching up; it's a reflection of the changes we're navigating and the stories that have accumulated in my absence. Please enjoy this short update on what's been happening lately, and things you may have missed.

IT’S THAT time of year again, time for the last of the summer whites, and an introduction to autumn blacks. Monochromatic dressing in black or white is a sophisticated and timeless style choice that involves wearing different shades and textures of a single colour from head to toe…
AUTUMNS PAST
Recently, I unearthed a post from the autumn of 2020 ⎼ four years ago ⎼ about life in the English countryside. It was accompanied by several beautiful photos I'd taken of our idyllic village. Surprisingly, even to my perfectionist self who often tweaks published work, I still appreciate the writing.
A little vintage trench coat inspiration by way of Brigitte Bardot and Catherine Deneuve in the 1964 film The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (directed by Jacques Demy); Kate Moss by Ellen von Unwerth in the editorial Cinema Verité, shot for US Vogue October 1995 (this one was found on Tumblr and appears to have been reversed and rendered in grayscale); and last but certainly not least, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis (via TIG).
MOOD BOARDS
Last Sunday, I shared news of our new Site Map at TIG, designed to improve navigation. While creating it, we've also reorganised some content. Now, you can find a collection of our mood boards in one place. (We're still adding to this collection, but you can already view the ones we've compiled so far.)
At the site recently:

We're returning to our roots with a series we originated and popularised in its early days: the mood board. These captivating collages weave together fashion, décor, and truly evocative moments, offering a cohesive glimpse into a curated aesthetic.
P often reminds me, “You’re overthinking it.” And it’s true ⎼ I overthink everything. And I dwell on things. I recently read somewhere that the best tennis players are those who can quickly move on after dropping a point. This ability is crucial for maintaining focus and composure throughout a match. So, rather than being stuck on past errors or dwelling on things, I’ve been using this quote by T.S. Eliot to remind myself to shake off life’s lost points and focus on the next…
Until next time,
