I HAD AN ESSAY planned for this week, but it’s one of those long, thoughtful pieces that takes time and research, and since writing can’t be forced, it’s not quite ready. Instead, thought I would use this time to discuss some early results from our recent Reader Survey, as well as share some beautiful décor inspiration I came across recently, plus a few other things on my mind.

First of all, I would like to begin by saying that you are all so, so nice. Those of you who took time to do the survey also used it as (an anonymous) place to send along the loveliest notes ever. I am so touched by how many of you have been reading for so long (some from as far back as 2009—thank you).

The vast majority subscribed here are looking for inspiration and creative ideas, and to discover new things to read, do, buy, etc. You also want to learn new things and access good writing. What you said you like most about this new space is that it’s “chic and intelligent”; many of you like the “smart writing” and that you enjoy reading

’s perspective as well. A few of you also mentioned that you missed his Moving To series at TIG. (As an aside, while our main site has been on a brief hiatus as we focused on building this space, we're now returning our attention to it, so you can look forward to more regular content there again.)

I’m biting into a summer peach as I write this and it tastes like the sun and every favourite moment I’ve ever lived. Below are a few beautiful things I’ve found by way of décor inspiration, five things I’m thankful for, and a few things I’m parting with.
