Listening, Reading, Thinking, Shopping, Watching / 21
A beautiful film I watched last week; a dramatic love triangle (be sure to read the fascinating footnotes); a stunning hotel in Amalfi; décor inspiration, and more
On Thursday evening, an unexpected weather alert disrupted the winter's stillness—a piercing notification from the Met Office announcing Storm Éowyn. Scheduled to make landfall at 10:00 AM the following day, the storm compelled us to remain indoors. We watched as wind twisted through trees and rain swept across window panes in wildly unpredictable patterns. Though I intended to complete this letter then, circumstances delayed my writing until today. I'm aware our last letter arrived on Monday, a day when many were still unwinding from an extended weekend. If you might have missed it amid the leisurely shuffle of days, you can find it here. Recently, I told you about the Let Them Theory, and linked to a podcast where I had first heard about it. It turns out there's some controversy regarding the origin of this theory. Today, we’re back with our regular series, ‘Listening, Reading, Thinking, Shopping, Watching’, which is essentially a glimpse inside my mind: open tabs, Screenshots folder, search history, Notes app, etc. These round-ups are a carefully curated compilation of things that I’ve seen and have been inspired by over the course of the week or so. This edition includes an impossibly chic hotel overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea; one of the three great films I watched last week; an epic love triangle; a few things in my shopping cart and more…

TOTAL LOOK
Double denim remains a sartorial enigma—an aesthetic challenge that defies simple replication. The art lies not merely in wearing two denim pieces, but in orchestrating a nuanced dialogue between their textures and tones. What transforms this combination from a potential fashion misstep to a deliberate statement is the careful creation of a total look, often referred to as tonal or monochromatic. My next attempt will be with this denim shirt with bow and these medium-rise jeans.
DÉCOR /Alyssa Kapito
Alyssa Kapito’s beautiful home is featured in the February 2025 issue of Architectural Digest. In the designer’s own words:
“Design has always been such an important part of my life—it’s how I express myself, celebrate beauty, and connect with the world and people around me. Getting to design your own home is such a personal experience, and I’m so excited to share this glimpse into our world and the things that I love to live around.”
STYLE FILE /Catherine Deneuve
At the TIG Instagram page, Catherine Deneuve is our Style File. The actress emerged as a transformative icon of French fashion, embodying an insouciant elegance that transcended mere style into cultural mythology. Her collaboration with designers like Yves Saint Laurent crystallised a particular archetype of Parisian chic—cool, cerebral, and subtly provocative. Beyond her film career, Deneuve became a living canvas of understated sophistication. Her sartorial choices—crisp white shirts, impeccably tailored blazers, and classic trench coats—defined a minimalist aesthetic that spoke of intellectual refinement and quiet power, influencing generations of women who sought to dress not just fashionably, but meaningfully.
