Every Monday, at TIG, I write Notes from the Weekend and include a list of links, both interesting and shopping, and it is by far one of our most popular features at the site. It is also always the most clicked story in our regular newsletter, so I thought it might be worth exploring a similar feature here, but perhaps with a more personal slant, discussing the things that inform my current thought processes as I come up with content for the site throughout the week.

Philosophize This! by Stephan West
Episode #177 Do you speak the language of pictures and videos?
Susan Sontag was an American writer, critic, and public intellectual who was best known for her essays on modern culture. This espisode looks at Sontag’s dealing with the language of pictures and discusses how images can be used for good or evil, and the idea that to photograph something is objectify it. West also discusses the notion that all photographs are memento mori, a Latin phrase that translates to "remember that you will die" in English, serving as a reminder of human mortality and the transient nature of life. Lastly, the podcast looks at commemoration vs. contemplation.
