A return to Carrie, a Paris apartment, busts, breadcrumbs, tan lines, and a quietly perfect hotel in Rutland.
Bank holiday Monday made this week feel off-kilter. Short but somehow endless. The move we've been talking about for a year is finally happening. Two storage units to deal with – one still in Spain, one here. I know I need to get better at letting go, but knowing and doing are different creatures. My Notes app is a mess of bullet points in no particular order, clearly not the system for tracking these weekly thoughts. Need something better, though I'm not sure what yet. It's past seven now. Late sun through the window, P's roses from last week (now fully opened) on the coffee table, amber candle burning, Bordeaux just opened. One of those moments that feels worth noting for some reason. Between the storage units and the planning and the inner work still to do, there's this: Thursday evening, quiet house, good light. Sometimes that's enough to build a week around.
This week's edition of Listening, Reading, Thinking, Shopping, Watching includes a quietly iconic country house hotel in Rutland, a sculptural return to busts and headpieces, a Paris apartment full of subtle drama, Carrie Bradshaw’s best outfits (and the Zoë Kravitz moment that echoes them), a kale Caesar pasta salad worth bookmarking, and a corner shop that turns into a wine bar after dark. Plus: late summer inspiration, analogue pinboards, and a few thoughts on fashion’s looping timelines.
