It's nearly the end of July and we're wondering where the summer has gone. After two city breaks and one trip to the seaside (where we absorbed the therapeutic properties of sea air and salt water like proper Victorians), it's been odd being in the same place these past few weeks. Life has settled into a slower rhythm and the days feel endless. Maybe it's because we're waiting for our plans to crystallise that time seems suspended. I've been lost in books and lost in conversation, and have lost interest in online life entirely, which makes this week's reader question feel perfectly timed.

This week, we continue with Dispatches & Dreams: Letters to Hyperreality, our brand new series responding to your questions about navigating love, work, wanderlust, and the art of living well. What strikes us most is how every letter touches on the same underlying restlessness. How do you trust your instincts when everything feels uncertain? How do you honour both your dreams and your reality? How do you move forward when the path isn't clear?

In this second edition, reader Sophie explores the tension between digital connection and authentic living...

Q:

hi,

i don't want to live so much of my life online anymore, but it feels like everything (work, socialising, information) depends on it. can you actually have a rich, meaningful life that's mostly offline? or is that just a fantasy in today's world?

thanks,
sophie
